The Australian Scout Medallion(ASM) is the highest achievement for a Scout. In the Scout Section (youth aged 11-14) it has similar status to the Queen's Scout Award earned by Venturer Scouts (aged 15-17). The ASM is not just another badge, it is an award which recognises a high level of scouting ability and commitment. To achieve this level, the Scout has to demonstrate that he or she can instruct and teach other younger Scouts what he or she has learnt in Campcraft, Citizenship, Construction, Environment, Emergencies, along with many other skills.
In the final event the Scout has to achieve to plan, organise, and lead a three day, two night hike, in the bush, over a distance of no less than 30 kilometres. Nathan is a member of the 1st Kalamunda Scout Group and an exceptional Leader who has the respect of his fellow scouts and his adult leaders.
We are very proud of Nathan's huge achievement in obtaining the Australian Scout Medallion – the top award in the Scout section in Australia!
