School values

Gratitude

There has been a strong emphasis on ‘Gratitude’ within the grade 5 cohort this term. Combining with our PBL topic, Immigration in Australia, the students have been discussing how grateful they are to be apart of this country. Every morning we say an acknowledgement to country to honour and show our gratitude to the aboriginal community.

Here are some important messages the students have about gratitude:

‘The year 5’s are grateful to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land, the Aboriginals. We are grateful to have such great teachers at the school who have been with us for our whole learning experience. We are also grateful to have amazing families who are always supporting us throughout our lifetime. We are also proud to be one big community at Brookside College.

PBL

The students have been working exceptionally hard this term researching Immigration in Australian. The students have explored the differences between migration, refugees and asylum seekers. They have enjoyed learning about Aboriginal history and discovering the varying reasons people decided to come to Australia. They will be using Minecraft to present their knowledge on Immigration in Australia.
