Camps and excursions

We are continually trying to improve the way we organise and communicate events to the Brookside community.

Part of this process is to ensure that Parents/Carers are given sufficient time to provide payment and consent for upcoming excursions and incursions.

The safety of our students is paramount and having these processes in place helps ensure that we have all of our bases covered when students leave the College under our care.

Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge 2019

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the 2019 Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge.

Since it began in 2005, the Challenge has inspired more than 2.8 million young Victorians to read more than 48 million books.

Now in its 15th year, the Challenge is a cornerstone in our efforts to get more Victorian kids reading and learning the skills that’ll set them up for life.

Whether it's travelling to the edge of the universe, or exploring treasures in your own backyard, I know you’ve got some exciting adventures ahead.

In the near future your child will come home with their own login and password. Students are encouraged to read and record how many and the title of the books that they have read.

If your child is from Prep to Year 2, they must try to read 30 books to complete the challenge (20 or more of these books need to be on the challenge list).

If your child is from Year 3 to 9, they are required to read 15 books, 10 of those being from the challenge list). Homeroom teachers and English teachers will be verifying that your child has read these books. Older students can add their own books onto the system.

Attached is a PowerPoint to assist you with adding your books.

If you have any questions or queries, please speak to your homeroom teacher, English teacher or direct to Monika Hackworthy ( House 2, Room 25)

Good Luck and enjoy reading
