NAIDOC

Thank you all for your encouragement and participation in what was a fantastic opportunity to experience bush tucker on the day of our NAIDOC celebration Day in week one.
Preparing the food was labour intensive and it goes without saying that there were many hands to make the day manageable.
An outstanding effort was given by the high school MAG students. They cleaned, prepped, cooked, displayed, sold, cleaned again and packed up twice as we catered to our dual campuses. They all enjoyed the experience very much and it was a great opportunity for them to visit Casserley, which we must remember is an unknown to many students. The students were caring, well mannered and did a job which helped to demonstrate their eagerness in supporting events. The rapport Grace has with the students was evident as she led the day, encouraged and motivated them until the last toothpick was disposed of. Grace worked above and beyond in attitude and time frame in making this a success for everyone.
Thank you also to all you fabulous teachers who provided excellent feedback on the literacy resources so kindly collected and provided to us by Girrawheen Library. We receive generous support from the library staff there and remember no topic is too difficult for them to provide support for students in a learning area.
Jocelyn Gabrielson shone with the warmth of a star when she graciously came to school to address the Salcott students, giving an acknowledgement of country. She spoke well and from an informed point of view in her presentation. We are privileged to have her come and share.
I think the things I enjoyed the most was the :
- low key approach, with having Jocelyn coming from within our current school community
- eating together which is relational
- the literacy resources being available over an extended period of time
- the grateful hearts of the students and staff celebrating together
I thank God for the people who make up this school and church community. We are blessed to live in Australia and despite the sins of the past, we look to God to make our world, wherever our tent pegs are extended into, a place where the knowledge of Christ is evident.
