Westall SC presents

"The Addams Family"

Hi Everyone,

A huge amount of work was achieved over the recent holidays for the up-coming production of The Addams Family, which will be performed in the last week of Term 3. Tickets will be available from cast members and online at Trybookings.com.au., from the start of August.

Students of our iCreate Singing, Dance, Drama class, have been working extremely hard over 3 days of rehearsals,  at The Theatre where the show will also take place.  All were there with the exception of a couple who had previous engagements.

Prior to these rehearsals, the full set was disassembled, loaded into a truck, transferred, demounted from the truck and set up in the theatre. Then, after rehearsals, it was again disassembled, loaded into the truck, brought back to Westall and stored in the drama space. And I can hear everyone asking “Was this necessary?” Well, yes it was. We realised we need to change the setting of some of the scenes, which we would not have been able to correct at the last minute.

Thank you to our staff including Mr. Ralph Richardson, who was fantastic! There was not one thing I asked him to do that he refused. He drove the truck, built some props that are extremely impressive. He still has some major props to make, as well as a chandelier.  How lucky we are to have his talents.  Thank you to Ms. Helen Ifandis, who has also been helping and will complete props early this term.  And then, there was Ms. Sue Simadri, who jumped on board to drive the truck back to Westall from Keysborough and return it to Budget in Dandenong on Friday. I invited her to come on a little adventure but, she was a little taken back about the size of the truck.

Thank you to our other amazing volunteers who have been part of my life for some years. They have all come from my association with Keysborough SC. and have remained friends. Students I have taught, parents who have designed, built and painted sets and props. I won’t mention any names at the moment because there are too many to mention. But these same people are doing it this year for Westall SC. Their commitment to make “The Addams Family” the most spectacular production Westall, or many other schools can imagine, is worth bottling.

And so Westall Community,  this is where you can help.  We need drop sheets to place under the sets so we can paint them. As many as possible. Preferably material and not plastic. Plastic is too slippery and of course non-absorbent.  We also need as many people as possible on Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th August to paint the sets. We will start painting after school and hopefully get the white wash finished, so we can get started with the colours on Saturday.

As time goes by, we will need more help from Westall.

I hope you can all become a part of the fun of The Addams Family.
