Junior School

Years 7 to 9

National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN)

Each year, NAPLAN tests assess student knowledge and skills in writing, reading, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy. The results of the tests provide important information for students, parents, teachers and principals regarding student progress and can be used to improve student achievement and identify students who need greater challenges or extra support. In 2022, all schools are transitioning from paper-based assessments to computer-based assessments.   These NAPLAN Online tests will take place between Tuesday 10 May and Friday 20 May.

As part of the preparation for NAPLAN Online, all schools are required to participate in a practice test window. Students are not expected to study for NAPLAN, but the practice tests are designed to familiarise students with the question styles and help them to be comfortable with the new online testing format.  Practice tests will take place at the college in Week 10 this term - Monday 4 April and Tuesday 5 April.  All Yr 7 & Yr 9 students will sit a writing test  (42 minutes) and an omnibus test  (45 minutes, which includes questions from the reading, conventions of language and numeracy tests) at the scheduled times below:
