Principals Report

- Sarah Rose (Acting Principal)

Investiture evening

Last week we held our annual investiture evening, where we recognise and honour our student leaders, Year 7 scholarship recipients, and aspire achievement. I was so pleased with how well attended this evening was, and that we were able to hold this event in person to recognise our amazing students. I’d like to make special mention our musicians for the evening – Ava M, Jayde K, and Erinn H, whose musical performance was truly outstanding.

Uniform

A gentle reminder that we are continuing to see some students regularly out of uniform, which as we continue to implement our new processes will start to see consequences for students in incorrect uniform without permission. All uniform must be logo’d, and no undergarments should be visible. We understand that there are times when this is difficult, so please ensure that if your child is out of uniform that you provide a note explaining why, so that sub-school staff can issue uniform passes.

Additionally, if your child is experiencing issues with the uniform, please get in touch with our wellbeing department who can work with you to arrange an exemption where appropriate. Families experiencing financial difficulty may be eligible for support in accessing uniform, so please contact our wellbeing department if this applies to you.

Parent/Teacher Interviews

Parent/Teacher Interviews will be held on Wednesday 6th and Thursday 7th April. This year, we will be implementing a hybrid approach, with a combination of face-to-face and online interviews. As a result of Parent/Teacher Interviews, Thursday April 7th will be a student free day.

An email with further information about times and booking processes will be sent out shortly.

New Staff

I’d like to congratulate Sharnee Armstrong in her appointment to our new position of Junior School Administration. While we’ll miss her enthusiasm and positivity in the front office, we’re thrilled that she will continue to work with our Year 7-9 students and leadership team in supporting the work of the Junior School.

Replacing Sharnee in the front office will be Narelle Schmitt, who comes to us with significant experience in School Administration.

Kate Austin will be joining our Education Support team, and we also welcome two new Psychology teachers, Julie Coonan, and Emily Schembri. I’d like to thank Lisa Neagle for her work with Psychology students this year, as we worked to employ permanent teachers.

School Council

We are seeking one community member to complete our School Council for 2022. Please see below for the definition of a community member. A community member representative can be a current parent, but not an employee of the Department of Education.

Community members

The community member category is an optional category for school councils. Community members are co-opted onto council, usually at the first meeting of the newly elected council and cannot be Department Employees. Community members typically bring special skills, interests, or experience to the council such as:

  • members from parent clubs
  • accountants
  • digital technology skills and or
  • project management skills.

Community members generally have the same rights, responsibilities and terms of office as elected members unless otherwise provided in Ministerial Order 1280.

If you are interested in contributing to our school community through School Council, or would like further information, please contact Kerrie Clarke on Kerrie.clarke@education.vic.gov.au by Thursday March 31st.
