Year 10 Environmental Science Excursion - Ecolinc

On Friday the 4th March, the Year 10 Environmental Science class attended the Ecolinc Centre to complete a workshop called 'Green Chemistry'. In this workshop, the students explored the effect of plastics on the environment and created an environmentally friendly bioplastic using corn-starch.  They also looked at how detergents can be developed to be eco friendly and used distillation apparatus to extract limonene from orange rind. Overall, the students learnt how an understanding of chemistry can be used to solve real world problems.
