Music News

Dr Andrew Butt

The Marist College Ashgrove Music Department extends a warm welcome back to all Marist families for the commencement of Term 2, which promises to be another eventful term of Music making across the College. We would like to congratulate all Ensembles who performed at the Premier Ensembles Concert in Week 10 of Term 1. After the standards were set high by the 2022 Year 5 Cohort, with their performance of Dig It! the Musical the week prior, all members of Symphony Orchestra, Wind Orchestra 1, Guitar Orchestra 1, Chamber Strings, Chamber Choir and Big Band 1 are to be commended on their exceptional first performances of the year, well done to all boys and staff.

The 2022 Concert Season continues in full swing, with the Autumn Concert this Thursday, April 28 involving the Performance Choir, Guitar Ensemble, Guitar Orchestra 2, String Ensemble and Senior Strings. While the main venue for this concert is sold out, the concert will also be live-streamed in the adjoining Experimental Theatre for any members of the College community who were unable to book tickets.

Thank you to all members of Chamber Choir, Dr Andrew Butt and Ms Melanie Stewart, who provided choral reflection for the local Ashgrove, Anzac Day Memorial Service at Ashgrove Memorial Park on Monday. This commemorative service is an important event for the wider Ashgrove Community and the College Music Department has been very honoured to contribute.
