Around the College

HARMONY WEEK

The week beginning March 21 was Harmony Week. Harmony Week is an opportunity to celebrate all the different cultures that are part of Australia, including indigenous Australians. In support of Harmony Week, we asked our College community to submit their favourite recipe that represents their culture.  We received some great entries! Why not travel the world these school holidays - all from the convenience of your kitchen - and try the recipes in the pdf below.

Recipes are from Finland, Italy, Macao, Hong Kong and China.

STUDENT CLUBS

Badminton:

Shuttle in the net!

Badmington Club runs every Friday afternoon at 3.30pm in the Stadium.

The aim of the game is to hit the shuttle cock over the net. Here are the reflections by some Badminton Club students:

I have been doing badminton club for a week now. I found out about it from my sister who originally got interested. She’s in year seven. We both enjoyed quite a bit. Very interactive very fun.  She brings her friends sometimes. Good fun! I enjoy it.

I’ve been playing badminton at school with multiple friends and siblings since year 7. It’s a really engaging sport and it helps maintain a good relationship with different people, while also keeps my weekly physical activity at a healthy level.

I came to badminton club every Friday because I enjoy playing with my friends and siblings. In the meantime, it also releases my stress and helps maintain a healthy lifestyle.

I come to badminton club every Friday because I enjoy the sport badminton and I want to try out different things with my friends. Badminton is a sport I like and it’s surprising because I don’t really like sports. I officially came to the badminton training when I was in year eight, I would like to continue badminton until I graduate or perhaps even older.

I’ve been playing badminton here for over a year now and the experience has been simply unreal. Over a dozen people come every lesson (including my brother), and we bathe in each other’s support, encouraging each other to reach higher every week. I feel as if I’m really part of a family and I’ve made countless friends, and developed a connection with people I didn’t think I would. The club has improved me as a person, and I am eternally grateful for it and what it has done for me.

I am an international student in 7D and I have just come to Australia. I joined the very popular badminton club here just a few days ago. The environment here is very good, clean, tidy and bright. And kind and caring teachers. I love this club badminton. If you are tired of playing, you can play basketball. I came with some of my international students friends. I play badminton because badminton has many benefits. I think the most important thing is to strengthen the body and improve concentration. I am grateful to have an opportunity to join the badminton club. I like this school very much.

I've been coming to badminton club since sometime last year. I found out about it through one of my friends, and from then on, I've been coming quite regularly. Not only does badminton club provide a space for us to improve upon our skills, but I've also made new friends, and talked to a lot of new people if not for badminton club. I really enjoy coming to play badminton, and it is one of the things I look forward to every week. I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity to join badminton club, as it is filled with lots of friendly students, who are inclusive and supportive towards everyone and I look forward to continuing to be a part of it for years to come.

This is my first year joining badminton club. My older sister started going to badminton club last year and she would come back with a smile on her face, so when I came to this school, I started going to badminton club with her and then I understood why she was so happy. The people there are very welcoming, inclusive and every week I look forward to going to badminton club to play with my friends. I look forward to continue being a member of the badminton club community.
