Ride2School Day

Frankie on their bike

So much fun!

From Ben, NMPS Ride2School Coordinator

What a wonderful event we had for the 2022 Ride2School Day last Friday 25 March.

Approximately 88% of our students actively travelled to school on the day and our bike racks and gym area were full of bikes, scooters, and skateboards.

Many prizes and giveaways for the most colourfully dressed and the craziest, most outrageously decorated bike, ensured big smiles on all participants throughout the day!

Ride2School Day was a great success! There were lots of smiles and excitement as hundreds of students arrived with decorated bikes, scooters and colourful dress-ups. Bright stencils on the footpaths around the school added to the celebration.

Over 120 children who are usually driven to school were instead out in the fresh air with friends and family. One student was overheard saying:

We usually come by car but this is so much fun!

A dinosaur scooted through the gate to a round of applause. Bikes were covered in flowers, streamers and post-it notes. There were pom-poms on shoes and balloons on bike helmets. Lots of people made a huge effort, which really added to everyone’s fun.

A number of families met up at locations across North Melbourne and Parkville and enjoyed walking, scooting and riding together. A big thanks to parent helpers Carmel, Kate, Katrien, Kristen, Megan and Vishal. A shout out to teachers Mark, Ben and Mel for lots of behind the scenes preparation.
