Year 4 - Geography

From Esther, Year 4 teacher

Geography Day was a blast!

We filled the day with learning about South America and Africa. Our classroom was set up as Australia and Mollie played outback music, had a map of Australia and Aboriginal blankets laid out. The other Year 4 classrooms were set up as Peru, South Africa, Brazil and Argentina. For the first activity we split into small groups, where we were either researching animals and different cultures from Africa or South America. For the second and final activity, we did research independently about a country of choice from Africa or South America. The research. comprised of animals, culture, interesting facts, climate, a map and flag of the country. We drafted all of this and then made a poster or diorama which we presented to the Year 2 students.

Geography Day overview

By Elliott Lowther, 4B

On Friday the 23rd of March, all the Year 4s got to experience all Year 4 classrooms transform into different countries and continents for the Geography unit. We had such an adventure and are excited to show the Year 2’s when they come to visit us what we have made and learnt.

I loved looking at the different parts of Brazil that brought it together, the food, traditions.

I loved the way when we looked in the classrooms that it was a mystery until the clues were pieced together.”

Egypt has so much fascinating architecture, I wish I was there to see it all in person.
