Congratulations to all our students, families, and staff on the near completion of Term 1. What a busy, successful, and rewarding term it has been! It has been so lovely to see students back in the classroom and engaged in their learning for the whole term.
Our Three-Way Conferences begin this afternoon and continue through to Thursday evening. These conferences are an important avenue for involving parents and students in the learning process.
Three-way conferences provide a forum for teachers, students, and parents to acknowledge student progress and achievement. Students typically lead the Three-Way Conference by explaining their learning achievements, as well as areas for further improvement. Students use their work and individual learning goals as the driver when sharing their learning.
As we approach the end of Term 1, we are farewelling some of our staff and welcoming new members to our NMPS team.
We farewell some amazing staff who have contributed greatly to our school. We thank them for their dedication and commitment to NMPS. We say goodbye (for now) to the following staff who are taking extended leave for the remainder of 2022; Anna-Marie Low, Natalie Apostolidis, and Aaron Cullen. Georgie Murphy will be taking some Long Service Leave in Term 2 and Term 3, returning in Term 4 along with Jane Leighton who will be taking Long Service Leave in Term 2, returning in Term 3. We wish these staff members all the very best in their upcoming endeavours.
Early in Term 2, Helen Benjamin and Eve Wilson will commence family leave. Danica Cashman will also officially commence family leave. We send out best wishes to Helen, Eve and Danica as they embark on this new exciting journey with each of their families.
In Term 2 we will welcome Josie Jones (6D), Trent Klowss (2C), Moira Peddie (3C), Karen Li (1D) and Kaajal Patel (2E). We also welcome back Tess Vu (6B) for the term. To our Wellbeing Team, we welcome Lauren Cariss who will begin working three days a week and we also welcome Beth Wakefield as she joins our ES support team two days a week. We look forward to welcoming these people to our NMPS team and working with them for the remainder of 2022.
As the term draws to an end, we have a large pile of lost property, including jumpers, hats, drink bottles and other items. If your child is missing anything, please take the time to visit the school this week to view our lost property. We suggest the 3 Way Conference evenings are a good time to wander over to our lost property area. Any unnamed items not collected by the end of the term will be donated to charity.
There will be a number of different contractors working on both the buildings and school grounds over the holidays. These works will see improvements to NMPS and will continue into Term 2.
As we wrap up Term 1, here is a glimpse inside our new campus site. As we can see our builders and Albert the crane have been really busy. Take a look at the music and performing arts staircase taking shape below and the panels being put in place on levels 2 and level 3.
There will be a whole school assembly on Friday at 2:10 pm to celebrate the term.
I wish everyone a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable break and look forward to welcoming all students back to school on Wednesday 27th April.
