Greek Mythology

(mythologia: 'story,' 'lore,' 'legends,' or 'the telling of stories') combines the word mythos with the suffix -λογία (-logia, 'study') which is translated as 'romance, fiction, story-telling’. Accordingly, Plato used mythología as a general term for 'fiction' or 'story-telling' of any kind. Greek Mythology was part of the religion in Ancient Greece. The characters, stories, themes and lessons of Greek mythology have shaped art and literature for thousands of years.

Year 7 and 8 students, focused on developing the knowledge, skills and understanding to analyse thinking, and on the selection and application of a range of techniques to support effective thinking. Students learnt strategies to assist them to synthesise their thinking. They developed an understanding that flexibility in thinking is often required and that certainty in thinking can be influenced by a range of factors.

Year 7 & 8 Beginners Japanese

To wrap up 2020, our Years 7 and 8 Beginners Japanese classes did some reflections on our achievements of this year through a number of activities. One activity was to use pure Japanese writing to create our own imaginary characters. Some students used one of the three Japanese scripts and others used numbers written in Kanji (another Japanese writing system) to create robots and characters among us!

To welcome 2021 Year 7S and ease their big jump of transition from primary school to high school, many current Years 7 and 8 students shared their experiences, advice, and personal thoughts through letter writing. These have been collected and will be distributed to our new group of Year 7s next year.
