SOC Positive Education Plan 2021

As part of SOC’s commitment to Positive Education, the Student Services Team are in the process of planning for 2021. Positive Education combines academic learning with the development of character strengths to build student capacity of life-skills. Based on the science of happiness and well-being, Positive Education prepares students academically, socially, cognitively, and emotionally for the rigours of everyday life.

In 2020, teachers and students began implementing Positive Education practices through the Mentor Group program. Moving into 2021, these practices will move into the classroom and the wider school community. The focus for the year will be building on character strengths, being able to recognise our own strengths, and the strengths of others. Using character strengths as the groundwork, we will start focusing on building and maintaining positive relationships, celebrating achievements, and building positive health and resilience. Regular updates will be sent to students and parents via Compass newsfeeds and the College Newsletter.
