Year 12 Dinner

The Year 12 Dinner this year will be held at Due South on Wednesday the 14th October, 2020.  Day students can come to the College and travel across in the coach or meet us at the venue.  The dinner will commence at 6:15pm.

Staff are invited to the event, we request that you RSVP to the Residential Manager before the end of Term 3.

Year 12 Finish

Our Year 12 students have until Friday October 23 (the second week of Term 4) to complete their school-based education programs at the College.  However, many of our Year 12’s who are not sitting for WACE exams may complete their education programs earlier than that date. As soon as our Year 12 students finish their education program at the College in Term 4 they are required to leave the campus. We will provide Year 12 students with a Clearance Form that will act as a checklist to make sure they’ve completed all of their course requirements before they leave.

Year 12 Internal College Exams

Students undertaking Year 12 (ATAR) courses should be preparing for their final College internal exams. All of these exams will be three hours in length and cover course content from Terms 1, 2 and 3.

Exam dates are listed below:

  • Plant Production Systems – Monday 21st September
  • Biology – Tuesday 22nd September
  • English – Wednesday 23rd September
  • Maths Applications – Thursday 24th September
  • Animal Production Systems – Friday 25th September

All exams will commence at 8.10am and finish at approximately 11.30am. In accordance with the WA College of Agriculture-Denmark Assessment Policy, all students studying ATAR courses must sit the exam on the day/time specified.  The only exception to this requirement will be if the student has a medical certificate from a doctor confirming that the student was too unwell to participate on the day. Any student who does not attend the exam and/or fails to provide a valid medical certificate will, without exception, receive a zero mark for the exam.

On completion of their exams students will have free time in the afternoon including the option of going into Denmark, studying for their next exam or relaxing in the College residence.  Day students also have the option of returning home after their exam. The only exception to the above arrangements will be if teachers have requested extra exam revision sessions in the afternoon.

Year 12 exam revision sessions:

If you require further information regarding this please contact me either by email or telephone.

Year 12 ATAR students will also be completing external Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank examinations in early November. I urge all students involved to set time aside to revise and prepare for these major assessments.

Year 12 ATAR External Examination Dates

This year’s ATAR external examination dates are as follows:

  • English – Wednesday 4th of November
  • Plant Production Systems – Friday 6th of November
  • Mathematics Applications - Monday 9th November
  • Animal Production Systems – Tuesday 10th November
  • Biology - Friday 13th November

All exams will take place at the Denmark Senior High School.  The College will transport students to and from the venue.

College Ball

The annual College Ball took place at Pepper and Salt on Friday 28th of August and our students were beautifully dressed and are to be congratulated on their impeccable behaviour. A special acknowledgement to our Beau and Belle, Mathew Dykes and Sophie Cuthbert, Prince and Princess Riley Pes and Kasey James. This event could not have happened without the support and help of the residential staff and students, and I would like to acknowledge the concerted effort of everyone who was involved.

OLNA Testing

The second round of OLNA testing has been completed this week.  The results of the tests will be available to schools in late November.  Those students who do not achieve the required “Category 3” result in either the reading, writing or numeracy tests will have two further opportunities in Year 11 and a further two opportunities in Year 12.

Students who are completing Year 12 this year and who do not meet the required standards in this round will still receive a Western Australian Statement of Student Achievement (WASSA) which provides a formal record of what they have achieved during their secondary schooling.

For these students, the Schools Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) will provide opportunities for students to sit the relevant components during any future rounds of OLNA. When students have demonstrated the standards and they have met all the other requirements of the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) current in that year, they will be awarded the WACE.

2021 Course Selections

2021 course selections for students moving into Year 11 or 12 have been sent out to parents.  This will give parents the opportunity to discuss the preferred courses and options their son or daughter wish to pursue up to and over the holiday period. Please return forms by Week 1 Term 4.  A reminder to parents that Steve Swallow (A/Principal), Stuart Irwin (HOD of Studies), and I are always available to discuss programs and course selections with parents/carers, so please don’t hesitate to contact either one of us if you need some advice.

We will also run two Course Information sessions in the College Lecture Theatre on Sunday October 11 at;

  • 2.30pm for 2021 Year 12 parents and students
  • 3.30pm for 2021 Year 11 parents and students.

Year 10/ 11 Work Experience

Parents or guardians of our current Year 10 students will also be receiving information before the end of this term regarding a four day block of school-authorised work experience at the end of Term 4 (Monday 14th to Thursday 17th December).

Year 11 Agricultural Studies students will be involved in a work experience programme during Week 7 of Term 4, the week following the College Year 12 Graduation. Year 11 ATAR students will be completing end of year exams during this time. Parents of Year 11 Ag. Studies students will be forwarded information about work experience before the end of this term.

It is important that the initial work placement forms are returned as early as possible and before the end of Week 1 Term 4,  to ensure that the additional work experience paperwork can be completed in time.  If parents have any questions regarding these work experience blocks they should contact me at the College.
