Kindness for a Cause

Kindness for a Cause – you can make a difference!

Research shows that practising kindness and empathy are key factors that contribute to maintaining positive mental health and wellbeing.

You will be aware that many of our elderly community are finding isolation particularly difficult, especially when they cannot see their family and friends. We thought it might be a kind gesture to invite students to show some of our elderly ‘neighbours’ that we are thinking of them during this difficult time. We have been in contact with a local nursing home and community home care organisation and they believe that their residents would be most grateful to know we are thinking of them. If you would like to encourage your child to participate please keep reading …..

PCC students – we need you!

We know PCC students are extra kind, here is your chance to sprinkle some of that kindness to those most in need and bring a smile to their faces. Our elderly neighbours  who can’t see their family or friends at the moment need to know lots of people are thinking of them. We are asking students to draw pictures, create messages and even some small home made craft gifts which we will deliver to our local nursing home and community care centre on your behalf. Imagine their delight when they look at your beautiful gifts decorating their walls and rooms!

There are a few things that you need to keep in mind:

  1. Colour is great – the more colourful the better!
  2. Make sure pictures and messages are on A4 size paper – they might not have a lot of space for display
  3. Craft gifts can be tricky – try to stick to paper crafts or things that don’t have bits that can fall off, nothing too big and definitely no edible items!

(Google is your friend here – search things like kindness crafts, gratitude crafts, positivity craft)

Drop off arrangements;

  1. We will leave a red ‘Kindness Letterbox’ at the front door of the school for all of next week ( Mon 24th – Fri 28th August) for you to carefully place your gifts. (Don’t forget to maintain social distancing and mask guidelines while out and about!)
  2. You are also welcome to email drawings and messages as attachments to robyn.fincher@education.vic.gov.au

We look forward to seeing your creations and thank you all in advance!

Another kind idea from our 3/4 students…

As part of their Remote Learning tasks, our Year 3/4 students are already writing letters to the elderly which is fantastic to hear! If any Year 3/4 students who have already written letters to residents of aged care this term would like them to be added to the school collection, please follow the steps above.

Stay safe everyone, and be kind to each other.
