I wanted to take this opportunity to congratulate our students and their families for the enormous effort they have put into Remote Learning this time around. Our attendance in online classes has improved vastly as we have seen significant growth with those students online. Our teachers have been working extremely hard with our students this time around as they worked with the students to set personal goals for English and Math classes. These goals will allow our students to become more involved in what they need to learn and build on their existing knowledge and skills. These goals can be found online via COMPASS. As students achieve these goals throughout the term they will be listed as achievements and new goals set. In the coming weeks other curriculum areas will also co-create goals together and upload them to COMPASS. Staff are currently working on Interim Reports for families. They will be available on Friday. Families will receive a COMPASS alert when they are available. To all our Year 9 students and families I want to thank you all for the commitment and effort you put in to completing your Morrisby Profile last week. This will help you to make informed decision for your future and Education Pathways. We have scheduled 3 days at the end of the month for students who completed the profile to undertake course counselling. If you are unable to attend this session with your child please let your child’s Homeroom Teacher know and they can attend on your behalf. It is also an important time for you to be enrolling your students into their next stage of learning. Point Cook Senior and Homestead Senior Colleges have both run amazing virtual information sessions for our students. Once you have enrolled your child into a school, can I please ask that you let us know so that we can ensure a smooth transition for the students.
We are also aware that our Year 9 students are worried about missing important milestone events such as graduation. Rest assured we will be having a Year 9 graduation however it may look a little different to what we have had in the past!
We have begun the planning for our 2021 Year 7 transition program. We will be hosting a “Q & A” session for families of students moving into year 7 next. Please find all the relevant details on COMPASS and our facebook page.
Take care and stay safe!!
