Religious Education News

In the past we have had the opportunity to have Fr. Elio Capra at our school for staff and parent professional development.  Unfortunately we had to cancel his visit year due to Covid19. However he has now created a website blog and I have provided the link below on his discussion about The Good Samaritan. Our school was founded by the Sisters of The Good Samaritan and each year our children learn about this parable. It is especially important during these times to love our neighbour. Fr. Capra discusses the parable through the eyes of the painting by Jacopo Di Bassano.

Deputy Principal News:

Change of camp date!

Due to Year 6 students attending Year 7 2021 Orientation on Tuesday 8th December we have once again rescheduled camp for the fourth and final time. Hopefully we will attend Camp Rumbug on Monday 14th of December and come back to school on Wednesday 16th December. We still would appreciate everyone's prayers that COVID isolation will be reduced by then so we can enjoy the last  week of Term 4 2020 together.

This will also mean that Year 6 Graduation will be held the week beginning Monday December 7th (actual day tbc) and their final day of school will be Friday 11th December.

Managing the Coronacoaster.

On Tuesday 15th September I had the opportunity to attend a PD as a parent on how to help families manage during Covid 19. It was run by Michael Carr - Gregg (Child and adolescent psychologist). The main points from his talk are listed below:

When discussing Covid19 with your children it is important to do it in a story telling style and NOT catastrophise  as this will alleviate unnecessary anxiety.

During the upcoming school holidays try and encourage your child to engage in their passions. What gives them a spark?

Remember if you want your child to have less screen time you are in control! He suggested you 'google' ways to control games, nintendo etc.

When it is time to come back to school talk up optimism and encourage them to be alert  but not alarmed. Talk about the need for hand washing, sanitizing, mask wearing, coughing/sneezing etiquette and social distancing and why?
