Hello, from Carolyn.
Hello everyone,
Our 2023 Student Leaders.
Last week, we had many of our senior students applying for leadership positions and presenting their speeches to our whole school assembly. This week, students and staff have voted and at today's assembly I will have the great pleasure to present the following students with their leadership badges-
School Captains- Luelle and Luke B.
Vice Captains- Hadley and Leon .
Student Leadership Council (SLC)- Maddison and Shane, Audrey and Theo, Tobi and Quinn.
Technology- Harrison T.
Library- Jordan H.
House Captains.
Fortuna-Saoirse and Harvey.
Coliban- Aylah and Cooper.
Goldminers- Alexis and Shane.
Ironbark- Luelle and Harrison T.
I was very heartened to see the number of our students who put themselves up for a leadership position, showing that they are passionate about their school and are keen to be involved. I was also very impressed with the way our students managed their disappointment if they missed out, and the heartfelt way they congratulated their successful classmates. Thank you to Jacinta Condon for getting our student leadership process completed early in the term.
Staffing update.
Laura Trembath, F/1T, is unwell and will be absent for at least the next two weeks. Amy Cecil will be teaching F/1T. Amy is an experienced teacher and comes highly recommended. I know you will help her feel welcome at BPS.
Pick up and drop off.
It is concerning to see some of our families continuing to park in no parking zones when dropping off and picking up their children. We want everyone to feel safe so please, do not 'prop' in a no parking area and call your children over to get in the car quickly. Park where you are allowed to park, even if that means parking a little further away and walking up to school.
Grown up Gardening Group.
We have beautiful school grounds here with lots of garden areas to maintain. This year, we would love to have regular gardening sessions where parents/carers/volunteers come in to help keep garden areas neat and tidy. At the moment, we have a lot of pine needles to clear from the tiger turf area so we need you help!
If you have time on Tuesday 21st Feb first thing in the morning to help us, and a trailer to take the pine needles away, we would love your help! Please let Sara or the office know if you will be there. Many hands make light work- and beautiful, cared for school grounds!
Term 1 Parent/Student/Teacher goals setting meetings.
Bookings are open via our Sentral app.
Breakfast Club.
A reminder that 'Brekkie Cafe' is open outside the Multi-purpose room from 8:25am - 8:45am. We will need your help to make it happen! Please let me know if you will be able to help. You will need a current Working with Children Check and complete our Volunteer OHS induction before you start. Thank you Jess W, Brendan and Karina for helping this week.
