“Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” (William Butler Yeats)

Welcome to Mount Beauty Secondary College.

Are you ready for your first official “grilling”?

What subjects do you teach here?

Chemistry, maths and junior / middle school science.

When did you start teaching here?

I started at MBSC at the beginning of the year after doing a term of CRT last year.

Where are you from?

I grew up in Zimbabwe before moving to Australia about 20 years ago.

Where have you previously worked?

I have worked in Zimbabwe, Israel, South Africa, the UK and Australia.

What are your interests?

I love cycling in all its forms. I have been cycling nearly all my life. I also enjoy fly fishing and photography.

If you had a choice between two superpowers, being invisible or flying, which would you choose?

Definitely flying.

Favourite place in North-East Victoria?

The upper Kiewa Valley.  It must be one of the nicest parts of Victoria.

If you had to be shipwrecked on a deserted island, but all your human needs—such as food and water—were taken care of, what two items and two famous persons (not family!) would you want to have with you?

Sunscreen and a Swiss army knife.
Stephen Fry and Alice Roberts

Favourite Book?

Wizards First Rule by Terry Goodkind

What are you listening to?

Happy Mix on Spotify

You’ve been given an elephant. You can’t give it away or sell it. What would you do with the elephant?

Use it to commute to work.

What do you enjoy most about working here at Mount Beauty Secondary College?

I like that it is a small and very friendly group of people.

We finish the interview and you step outside the office and find a lottery ticket that ends up winning $10 million. What would you do?

Retire and travel a bit more. So many places in the world I haven’t seen yet. I’ll see if I can tick off all the places in the book ‘1001 natural wonders to see before you die’.
