Principal's Report

with Simone Roy

The Year 7s had perfect weather for their camp last week and reports were that even though it was not like the traditional residential camp of previous years, it was still a fantastic experience and well worthwhile. Year 7 camp is held early in the year, designed to help bring the students of 3 or more primary schools together as the Year 7s of 1 secondary college. Thanks to Outdoor School – Bogong for their commitment to continue their program under difficult circumstances, and to our staff who gave their time to support the program.

School Council Elections

It’s school council election time again! Thanks to all the parents, students and staff that have been on school council for the last 2 years. This year, we have a number of positions that will be vacant due to the end of their 2 year terms. We are seeking 5 parents, 2 students, 2 community representatives and 1 staff member to form the new school council.

Self nomination forms will be available at the office and below and are due back to the office by Monday 6th March, 10am. The list of candidates will be published at the close of self nominations. If a ballot is required, the ballot will be announced in the newsletter and ballot papers will be distributed that day.

School council has 8 meetings in a year, running for about 2 hours. Currently starting at 6pm on a Wednesday, these details are always reconsidered when we form a new council. A rewarding experience; being on school council means you get to see more of the inner workings of the school and can share concerns, ideas or suggestion from the community.

Water Update

At this stage, there is no further update on the water situation. We have settled into a routine of using water bottles and refill stations and the hand washing stations are a sufficient replacement to running tap water (imagine a hand basin on an aeroplane!) The water chemist attended last week to take samples of the water and once their report goes to the Department, the Department will then determine the next steps.

Progress Reports

Progress reports were unable to be released last Friday as originally planned. They will be released in Compass this afternoon. Sorry for any inconvenience.
