Welcome

The Weekly Edit

Welcome to Week 5 of Term 1.

Can you believe we're nearly half-way through term 1 already?

Thank you to those who provided feedback through our newsletter survey.  The anonymous comments and data will go to School Council.  As a quick 'snapshot', 87.5% of respondents said that the newsletter being sent out on a Monday afternoon suited them.  93.75% were happy with the current content.  Some suggested areas for improvement included adding more photos, curriculum and academic content, class work samples, homework reminders, a school council report, school vision and goals and staffing profiles and updates.  (😬Phew!... will do our best - ed).  Although this survey has closed, our school community can email us at any time with their newsletter feedback.

In this weeks edition we have some fantastic photos from our Year 7 camp last week.  Thank you to staff Lisa Bowring, Rosemary Oldis and Melissa Janson for capturing these precious moments and to the Outdoor School-Bogong for running such a successful camp.  We are so fortunate to live where we do and to be able to offer the magnificent Mount Buffalo as a camp setting for our new Year 7s.

Well done to those students who have been elected to our 2023 student executive, this is a wonderful opportunity for them to gain important skills like leadership, communication, teamwork, organisation and public speaking whilst representing their fellow students.  You can read about them in the student exec page.

In the Staff page we introduce and welcome our new Science and Maths teacher Andrew Greenfield who may or may not be riding an elephant to school.....🐘....(that's the best I can do at clickbait - ed 🤣)

Something for the dinner table conversation tonight? Bob Flower led his Year 8 class to the Tawonga Fault line - read about it in class news.

There has been lots of chatter (and some terrible jokes!) by the Year 9's about their future careers and this week they are accessing their personalised results in individual career interviews.  The Morrisby program helps students "discover the world of work, make good options decisions and choose pathways forward" and is ideal for our year 9 students to complete before making their important subject selections for next year. Parents are welcome to also attend with their student - see the Careers page for more info.  Thank you to Jo Macklan for coordinating this.

Books and the library might not be everyones cup of tea (from survey) but the increasing number of kids playing chess in here is pretty inspiring.  Read 🤣 all about it (or not...) in the library page....

And lastly, from our community news page..all the best to those this weekend competing in the conquestathon or dragon boating.  Please send in your photos for next week!

Thank you and enjoy your week.  Happy reading!
