Year 7 News

Vermont Secondary College

Last week the Year 7 Cohort experienced the amazing Marysville Camp.

With the weather on our side the students truly made the most of every opportunity provided on this camp. As this is the start of an exciting high school journey many students were able to make new friends and challenge themselves in new ways.

Some of the highlights included making fresh pizzas in an outdoor oven with locally grown herbs, navigating two person canoes, rock climbing and visits to support the local lolly merchant in Marysville!

A reflective time was had at the Maysville Bushfire Museum.

Students learned the value of teamwork in their initiatives sessions as well as some creative ways to achieve common goals through utilising multiple character strengths. Bush skills provided many practical tips and strategies to help students survive in the wild!

Integrity, excellence and respect where exhibited by many students in different ways during the camp and form captains were announced!

Stirling: Arjun, Kaveri, Summer, Darcey

Hotham: Zoey, Emily, David, Mia

Macedon: Ayaan, Sophie, Setiya, Blake

The Year 7 Hotham, Macedon & Stirling students rose to the challenge and gained so much more than the memories they made on camp.

Your student managers and House teams were impressed by your behaviour, effort and positive energy from Day 1 to Day 3.

A big thanks to the staff who attended and Program Managers who made the camp possible.

Well done Year 7!
