OXFORD MATHS 

This year, our classroom teachers have a new resource to assist them in delivering the West Australian Maths Curriculum- Oxford Maths. 

Oxford Maths is an engaging mathematics program for our St Helena’s students that provides all of our learners with initial scaffolding. This scaffolding is then gradually reduced to allow students to become confident and independent mathematicians. The program also allows our teachers to use data to inform their teaching- with students sitting pre-tests to let their teachers know what each student knows about a topic before the teacher begins teaching. 

Along with Oxford Maths, our teachers use a wealth of other Mathematical strategies and resources to ensure our students become compete and capable mathematicians. Hands-on activities, small-group and whole-class tasks, practice exercises and open-ended problem-solving opportunities allow our students to make connections with mathematics in the real world and encourages higher-order thinking and reasoning.
