6 Ways to Support your Child’s Mathematical Development

The staff at Altona Green have been working hard to get all students to develop a positive mindset towards mathematics and seeing themselves as mathematicians. Professor Jo Boaler from Stanford University has done a great deal of research into this area and has published some excellent resources for parents to support their child to develop this positive mindset. I have attached her paper ‘6 Ways to Support your Child’s Mathematical Development’ which also includes a heap of other resources such as recommended apps and games and tasks you can do at home.

This Fortnight's Perplexing Puzzle for you to Ponder

Here is a puzzle for families to solve together. Please send through solutions (with all the messy working out of course!) either via email altona.green.ps@edumail.vic.gov.au or hand it in at David's office. All attempts will go in the draw for a prize and winners will have their photo and solution posted in the next newsletter!
