Principal's News

Welcome to the final term of school for 2019. It was wonderful to see our students return on Monday with great holiday stories as well as being refreshed for the coming term.

Term 4 is a busy term, with a lot of different events planned. These events can be found in our school calendar (within the newsletter). It is also a busy term with school reports going home and our farewell to our departing students and families.

Welcome:

We welcome Cooper Bryant to our school in Stage 2. I hope that he and his family enjoy being part of the St Joseph’s school community.

We also welcome Matthew Hamblin, who is completing his university practicum here at St Joseph’s Wee Waa. He will be with us for three weeks.

School Closure Day:

We will be holding our final school closure day for 2019 on Friday 13 December. Our staff are working with Catholic School Office staff to develop engaging programs of work and sequences of learning that will be integrated into our 2020 school program.

Catholic Mission Month - October:

As part of our fundraising for Catholic Mission Month, we are running an ice cream cone fundraiser. On Friday 18th October and Friday 25th October, students can purchase an ice-cream for $1. On Friday 1st November, we will be having a crazy hair day for a gold coin donation. All money raised from these events will be going to Catholic Missions in Australia.

Good Luck:

Good luck to our students Sam Wilson, Ted Haire, Tessa Haire, Molly Crockett, AJ Hopman and Juliet Maxwell, who are competing at Homebush Stadium as part of the Armidale diocese Athletics team. We wish them all of the best.

Thank you to PACER:

Students from our school have recently undertaken, an education tour of the national capital. Our Stage 3 students were given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage and democracy.

The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding of $30 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.

Important Note:

Tennis is starting this Friday at the Wee Waa Tennis Courts. All students need to wear their Sports Uniform on Fridays.

Have a wonderful week.
