Prep Soiree
After countless hours of rehearsals, Wednesday the 30th of October FINALLY arrived and 60 very excited children turned up to the school hall to perform in the Prep Soiree! The theme of the evening was "Music Throughout the Decades." The students danced to one popular song from each decade beginning in the 1930's and ending at the present day. Some highlights of the evening were "Rock Around the Clock", "Achy Breaky Heart" and "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" just to name a few. A big thank you to the parents for assisting to organise costumes, espeicially Heidi Hanslo who helped to sew skirts and for helping to put away chairs at the end of the evening. A terrific night was had by all!

Music: Count us in
On Thursday, 31st October, Ormond Primary School joined half a million participants from around Australia to sing the same song at the same time, on the same day. This was to promote Music education in Schools as part of the “Music: Count Us In” campaign. All the students enjoyed participating in the event and it sounded fabulous on the day. Well done Ormond!!
Furthermore I would like to recognise Clare Wever from 5/6C who did a marvellous job making up the actions to go with the song and teaching them to all the students. It sure enhanced the overall performance on the day!

Reading Time
One Friday afternoon the Grade 2's read picture story books to the Preps. We had a lovely time. Georgia really enjoyed the book Elly read to her. Alexander said that Marcus and Tom.B read really well to him. Claudia reported that Isabelle listenend well and was reading some of the words. Arthur thought the Preps listened quietly so they could hear the stories. It was a lovely afternoon.
Oral Hygiene Visit
On Thursday 24th October Year 2 was lucky enough to have four Melbourne University students completing a Bachelor of Oral Health, come to teach them about oral hygiene. As you can see in the photos, the students flossed and brushed teeth, completed a brushing chart, discovered foods that were healthy for their teeth and watched an informative Power Point presentation. The students were inspirational so we all went home to brush and floss thoroughly.
“I really enjoyed preparing my chart to make sure I brush my teeth twice a day” Liana
“One of the foods to keep your teeth healthy are carrots.” Genevieve
“I didn’t know there was such a thing as an acid attack on teeth” Nikia
“I now know the proper way to brush my teeth” Gabriel
“Sometimes when you don’t brush your teeth you get plaque in them. If you leave the plaque in them for too long they fall out very easily.” Jed
