Electives

Giving students the opportunity to explore new passions

This term Year 5 & 6 children have again had the opportunity to take part in a broad range of electives, above and beyond what is offered in the daily curriculum. In line with our drive to increase student voice, these electives were developed based on student suggestions.

Manga drawing

Within this elective children have had the opportunity to explore their artistic side through different artist's drawing styles.

Cooking

This term in cooking children have been creating international dishes, such as pizza, bolognese, nachos and burgers. Children (as well as teachers) have been able to enjoy the process of self preparing and creating these delishious dishes!

Lego Masters

Inspired by the TV show, children competed each week to design and build different Lego master pieces based on the challenge set forth. Children were able to work with peers to build or independently build their own Lego creation.

Theatre Sports

Within this elective a small group of children worked together to write and perform a funny skit for a junior class. They enjoyed using their skills learnt during drama to implement a wonderful performance!

Candle Making

This term children have successfully gone through the process to make their very own candle! They designed labels and brands for their candles, selected the scent from a large range and even selected which colour they wanted to dye their candle wax. They then took over the staff room to complete the candle pouring process.
