Our time together as a community that helps, guides, supports and facilitates the transition from childhood to adulthood relies on trust. We value the trust that parents place in us to educate their children in a caring, supportive and welcoming environment. We as a school trust that parents will support our decisions that are based on our shared values. We all want positive outcomes for our students. Our parents trust that at Beaumaris Secondary College their children:

Learning Device Review Group
We are asking for parents who have experience in ICT to fill out an expression of interest form to participate in the Learning Device Review Group. We have been informed that the Lenovo Mixx is no longer being manufactured and therefore we will need to identify a new device for students and staff starting at the college in 2020. Staffing Update
Please join us in welcoming our new receptionist Kellie Mascaro and Natasha Burgess as our Science Tech.
I will be holding a Prospective Staff information evening this term. We hope to begin the teacher selection process early again this year once we have an indication of our 2020 numbers.
Mental Health Initiative in Secondary Schools
Premier of Victoria, the Hon. Daniel Andrews MP and Minister for Education, the Hon. James Merlino MP, announced the Mental Health Practitioners initiative will be starting from Term 3 2019, and will be progressively rolled out to all secondary school campuses.
The initiative sees every government secondary school campus having a suitably qualified mental health practitioner by 2022.
The initiative will commence in the Bayside Peninsula Area in Term 3, 2019. The mental health practitioners will provide a range of services, including:
·direct counselling support and other early intervention services
·coordination of support for students with complex needs
·whole-of-school prevention and mental health promotion activities.
This role will work directly with our Head of Wellbeing, Dilek Yucel.
Intergenerational Ipad Project
We will be commencing the ipad program at the beginning of term 3 working with the Bayside City Council.
Our ICT Champions and Learning Team Leaders will be representing the college in the program that would take place during school hours.
The program would run on a Monday (preferably) or Friday Afternoon at the Beaumaris Library.
We will match 2 students with 1 senior. There will be a youth worker and a healthy ageing officer from Bayside Council present and one teacher from the school.
School Review
We will be going through a school review in Term 3. We have begun our Pre-Review Self Evaluation. All staff are contributing to the process. Our student leaders including Learning Team Leaders, ICT Champions and GOAL leaders will also represent the student voice. I have asked Steve Cook, principal from Albert Park College to be one of our challenge partners. We will be seeking parent feedback as well, more details in future newsletters.
