Principal's Ponderings
It's week 7!
Term 3 is flying and this week is going to be busy as we celebrate Fathers' Day with our 'Minute to Win It' evening, raffle and stall and finish the week on Friday afternoon with our Jump Rope for Heart 'Jump Off'. We will have shortened assembly at the conclusion of the Jump Off.
Many thanks to parents who recently completed the Parent Opinion Survey. Feedback is very valuable and assists us in developing our Annual Implementation Plan each year and in guiding the direction of our school. Our staff team carefully analyse parent and student feedback and school council also consider the data from the survey.
Parents will receive a link for a 'survey monkey' shortly which will ask for feedback about assessment, student reports and our online portal COMPASS. Also included in the survey will be copies of draft policies for parents to read and then contribute their feedback. It is hoped that parents will take advantage of this opportunity to share their opinions and ideas.
I would like to acknowledge the parents who have been extra vigilant and careful with parking and road safety. Your efforts are very much appreciated.
Minute to Win it
Lock in the date for a night full of fun and entertainment. Bring your dad, uncle, grandpa or significant other for a fun night of games and activities.
Fathers Day Stall
Our Parents & Friends' Association are getting ready for our annual Fathers' Day stall. Special items will be available for students to purchase on Friday 30th August.
Prep Enrolment 2020
Planning for 2020 is currently underway and I encourage families who intend on enrolling their prep child at Loch Primary School to pop into the office and complete an enrolment form to secure a place. It is very important that we know about enrolment so we can make sure we have enough classrooms and teachers in place for the start of the year.
Loch Rally Race
Our Parents & Friends' Association have been very busy organising and gathering prizes for our annual major fundraiser. This year the Loch Rally Race event promises to be great family fun! First prize of $500 is amazing and will be up for grabs! Our P&F is calling for helpers on the day to assist with activities and organisation. If you are able to help out please contact the office. Let's make this day a memorable one!
Congratulations to our super Vic Spellers
Ella & Tom
Huge congratulations to Ella Sala and & Tom Francis for their efforts at VIC Spell last week. Both students were successful until round 4 where they were challenged by some tricky words. We are very proud of both students who represented Loch Primary School well and with determination to do their very best.
Congratulations to
Levi Perkins
Levi recently had an outstanding day at the Sandhurst golf competition. He is ranked top 8 in Victoria. He will be competing in September and heading to Toowoomba in November to represent Victoria and Loch Primary School in the championships. Congratulations to an awesome golfer who continues to compete against high level students with great success. We look forward to hearing about the next golfing challenges ahead.
Ukeleles from RACV
We received a very generous donation of ukeleles from Inverloch RACV. Students are excited to be able to access a class set of these instruments. Huge thank you to Inverloch RACV and to Trudi Kirkbrde for organising the donation.
Family Bush Dance
This term all families are invited to join us for a family bush dance on Wednesday 11th September. Students will be participating in workshops during the day and the Billy Tea Bush Band will then host our family bush dance evening. We are looking forward to enjoying a fun filled night and hope to see everyone there.
Primary Mathematics Specialists
Ms Rachael Geerts and Mrs Jody Achterdenbosch will be attending the Primary Mathematics and Science Specialist workshop days on Monday and Tuesday. They will return with information, strategies and best practice in teaching maths which they will share with the Loch team.
Loch Foodies
Loch Foodies invites parents to Kelly's Bakery for a relaxed lunch together on Friday. (After the Fathers Day stall)
