D2 Drumline

As part of a newly established regional engagement program, Melbourne’s D2 Drumline successfully held their first series of workshops and a concert in Echuca/Moama.

The 3-day event held on Friday 26 – Sunday 28 May, was held at Moama Anglican Grammar and included more than 20 participants from schools and the Echuca/Moama community. Workshops were conducted by D2 Drumline Director, Campbell Phillips, and D2 Drumline members John Davies and Jordan Kiely.

The workshops enabled participants, from beginner to intermediate level, to greatly improve their technical and Performance skills in Drumline music and learn new charts, which were then performed at the free public concert on the Sunday afternoon.

We hope the event is the beginning of a great partnership with D2 Drumline, which will not only grow the culture of drumline music in our region, but will also provide future opportunities and inspiration for students wishing to undertake further music studies. The opportunity for students to engage with such professional musicians as those in D2 Drumline will greatly assist students on their musical journey.

JD boasts 16 degrees of freedom with metal gear and heavy duty servo monitors enabling him to walk and dance! JD's eyes have 1 million colour combinations enabling him to animate patterns with a camera for vision recogniton.

Free Flowing Art

The Year 11 Visual Arts class have been exploring resin and acrylic pouring to create unique free flowing art. Check out their class colour spectrum pour painting installation piece designed for the new Resource Centre wall near the Harkness room.

Be sure to  to view these in person to see all the beautiful colours blending between streaks of metallic submerged underneath the cells and lacing.

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Wait its Mr Van Der Zypp in a helicopter!

Our Kinder to Year 2 students enjoyed a special surprise today when Charlie Van Der Zypp's dad Michael stopped by in his new helicopter. The retired air rescue helicopter was being transported from Lismore to its new base in Melbourne, where it will take on the role of transporting boat pilots out to Bass Strait. Michael Van der Zypp picked up the helicopter yesterday and was being taught how to fly it by previous owner and pilot Jason. Take a look at the students with their special visitors!
