Athletics

Hume Region

0n Thursday 8th October, nine committed and talented students from Shepparton High School travelled to Albury’s Alexander Park to compete in the Hume region athletics competition.

Jessica Allen started our day on a positive note with a win in the 17 years female hurdles event. Jordan Meloury-Mason continued our winning form with a strong showing in the 1500m walking event. Both Jess and Jordan have qualified for State Athletics on 20th October.

Other notable performers for the day were Sijapata Kisimba, who achieved the longest throw for her age group in Javelin but unfortunately exited the throwing area in an illegal manner resulting in a no throw.

Despite this Sijapata still managed to come 4th in a strong field of competitors.

Christian Galu finished his discus event 3rd behind last year’s state champion, who smashed the Hume region record!

Congratulations also goes to Jasmine Vukcevic, Jordan Wilson, Natasha Keen-Smith, Morgan Randall and Jesse Ripper for their commitment to competing in this event.

I would like to encourage all students to follow the example set by these students and push yourself to achieve as much as you can. This means sacrificing time, energy, attending meetings and training sessions to further improve your performance.

Well done to all students and good luck to Jess and Jordan on the 20th.
