Environment Subcommittee

We are so excited to be elected as Environment Subcommittee representatives, and even though the year has just started, we have been a very busy team!

At the moment our main focus is taking care of our new vegetable garden where we have successfully planted and harvested tomatoes, kale, carrots, silverbeet, lettuce and herbs that the school cafe uses for lunches. We have also been managing the compost bins so that we can use the organic waste for our garden, and are in the process of selecting new vegetables to plant this season. By doing this all on our own and without the use of chemical pesticides and fertilizers we hope to show the school community how easy and rewarding it is to sustain your own garden, in the hopes that they will be inspired to do it at home too!

Our aim is to maintain the school’s environmentally aware status and to try and reduce our carbon footprint, so if you have any suggestions or ideas, please feel free to come to Student Parliament or send us an email!
