Grease College Musical

With only eight weeks to go, one of the world’s most successful musicals is going to hit the stage at St Bede’s College and have the audiences dancing in their seats. Grease is the popular story about rebellious teenagers in an American High School in 1959 who fall in and out of love, fight, party, idolise pop stars, style their hair, do up cars, have sleepovers, play music and generally live like teenagers today-with one exception.  Boy do they love to dance! Dancing to rock’n’roll in the fifties involved doing the jitterbug, bop, swing, boogie woogie and the hand jive to name a few.

Our fabulous cast from St Bede’s College , Kilbreda College and Mentone Girls’ Grammar have been in rehearsal for the last few months learning these energetic dance styles from our amazing choreographer, English teacher Mrs Carolyn Sutherland, who pushes the students to master these moves. Singing teacher Lucinda Franco has been working on the harmonies and teaching the students some very difficult lyrics. Producer  Mr Stephen Irving is keeping the wheels turning and ensuring the process runs smoothly. Ms Laura Matthews (St Bede’s) and Ms Bernadette Clarke (Kilbreda) are sourcing and creating costumes and Mr Lucas Carlson in AV is designing the lighting, which will make our young stars look fabulous.

Between cast, crew and staff, there are over 100 people involved and the team spirit is infectious with staff and students offering to help and be a part of this exciting production. The joy and laughter emanating from the cast as they dance, sing and act show that it is not simply the performances at the end that matter but that the progression from page to stage is a worthwhile and enjoyable experience.

Visit the College website to view the GREASE Cast List and tickets to the show are available to book from Monday 30 April by clicking on the link to TryBooking.

Parents, there has been a noteable increase in cars entering the staff carpark area at drop off / pick up times.

The College requests that you only enter the grounds if your child is unable to walk or is injured.  This is seen as an OH&S issue.  Please respect that staff and children are at risk of being hurt.
