Year 9

Year 9 Class Captains

Term 2

Hello and welcome back to Term 2.

The Year 9 City excursions are underway with two of the four excursions now complete. As you can see in the accompanying photos, the boys were blessed with spectacular weather. This has truly enhanced the city experience as it has brought our vibrant and dynamic city to life. The students have thoroughly enjoy exploring the city, riding on trams, trains, elevators, escalators and foot.

This term, the students will experience formal examinations for the first time. They will have examinations for each of their five core subjects in Week 7, beginning on June 4. Last Monday the students attended a highly dynamic presentation by Prue Salter, a study skills expert, focussing on examination preparation. I recommend that you ask your son to show you the excellent ‘Year 9 Steps to Success’ booklet that he received at the study skills session.

Under the leadership of Mr Adrian Lane, the ACC football team made the long road trip to Geelong for the first time, where they experienced the football might of St Joseph’s College. The game ended in a draw, a fitting result for a hard-fought game. Lead by Mr De Souza, the soccer team has started the season well. It was encouraging to see so many students trying out for a place in both of these teams. With 250 students in Year 9, positions in the teams are hard to come by and certainly cherished. Well done to those students who were lucky enough to gain a spot in one of the two teams.

It was pleasing to see the vast majority of students commence the term in the correct winter uniform. I hope that all students are now organised and wearing the correct winter uniform. We thank you for your efforts in helping to get your son organised.
