Can For The Van

The Cranbourne Food Truck provides free food and fellowship to the needy and disadvantaged of the Cranbourne area and their aim is to make their clients feel socially included in a community which is caring and supportive of their needs.

The cheerful and caring volunteers provide hot meals, fruit, vegetables and non-perishable food parcels four nights per week.

On Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays the Truck is in the Lyall St carpark from 6.30pm – 8pm and on Fridays in the carpark of the Childcare Centre opposite the Coles loading bay in Duff St, Cranbourne West from 6.45pm – 8pm.

The Cranbourne Food Truck is owned and run by the Cranbourne Regional Uniting Church and is supported by Uniting Community Services, the Cranbourne Rotary Club and other service clubs, churches, schools and businesses.

The ‘Healthy Habit’ for weeks 5 and 6 is SERVICE. Service means looking at ways that we can help others. Lyndhurst Primary School is going to support the Cranbourne Food Truck during SERVICE fortnight.

We are asking all families to donate some non-perishable food items that will be given to the van, to assist the disadvantaged individuals and families in our community. Non-perishable foods are those that do not require immediate refrigeration and can be stored for a long time (generally a year or more) without spoiling. Foods that can be donated include such things as …pasta, cup-a-soups, cereal, long-life milk, and tins of food such as tuna, vegetables and fruits.

Donation boxes will be near the library. Let’s work together to donate as much food as we can to this important community service!

Colgate Community Garden Challenge

Lyndhurst Primary School has entered the Colgate Community Garden Challenge, to go in the running to win one of five community garden set ups. The prize consists of three garden beds, two custom made benches and a $500 Bunnings voucher. To be eligible to win this prize, our school needs to collect used oral care products to be recycled, which will gain points for our school. We can also gain extra points for our school by voting online.

The used products that can be recycled are any brand of toothpaste tubes, toothbrushes, plastic toothbrush packaging, cardboard toothpaste packaging and standup toothpaste bottles. Collection boxes will be placed at the front of the library. The challenge closes on 30th September.

Please get on board and help us to be in the running for a fantastic prize for our school.

Help Needed

The students and teachers would love some help from any keen green fingered parents, grandparents or  carers on Friday mornings. If you can spare any time please contact the school office.
