Attendance Awards

A new initiative has been started by the office staff to minimise absences and maximise student learning, growth and development at Lyndhurst Primary School.

Every Monday morning at Assembly, grades with 100% attendance for the previous week will be presented with a certificate to congratulate all the students in that class for their attendance.

Congratulations to 1D for winning the class attendance for the second term in a row!!

Classes with 100% attendance for the fortnight ending 30/08/19:

  • 00F
  • 01D
  • 01E
  • 01G
  • 02E
  • 03B
  • 04C
  • 06C
  • 06D

Explained absences: 160

Unexplained absences: 149

Unexplained students late: 28

There are 128 students on 100% attendance

We are also be recording unexplained absences. It is a legal requirement for parent’s/carers to notify the school of any absences from school.

  • Attendance awards are given to classes with students that have had 100% attendance for the previous week, (these are based on parent-approved absences when children sick/away and the school is notified).
  • Classes with the most awards by the end of term will be rewarded with a small gathering/morning tea.
  • There is also a small reward for the students who have had 100% attendance for the whole year.

ACE Foundation

As you know, the ACE Foundation assists students in the City of Casey who experience significant challenges in their educational pursuits.  These challenges may be either cultural, language, socioeconomic, physical or family fracture related etc…

Our involvement in the City of Casey so far includes:

  • Monetary Encouragement awards (6 x $100) to each of 54 schools
  • Vision testing and provision of glasses (FREE to all Primary students who require them). So far more than 5000 children have been tested and more than 1000 pairs of glasses have been provided
  • Provision of readers to all Prep students (approximately 4000) each year
  • Free supervised study facilities available at Thompson Road Clinic with tutoring during 2015 – 2019 for Year 6 - 12
  • Provide 2,500 replacement meals per 4 weeks to 12 Secondary Schools in the City of Casey for students who arrive at school without breakfast or a prepared lunch
  • We financially support Operation Newstart Casey.  The 8 week program aims to re-engage disengaged young students into the education system and their local community
  • Financial support to the Young Mothers Return to School Programme at Cranbourne Secondary College

4pm Bell

Any students that are still waiting on school grounds to be picked up MUST come to the Office when the 4pm bell goes. The Office will attempt to contact parents, but if we can't get in touch, the children will go to after-school care to wait for their parent/guardian.

Staff Car Park

Just a reminder to our students and families that the students are not allowed to walk through the Staff Car Park on their way to and from class.

Unless parents have a disabled sticker, there should be no parents parking in the staff car park at any time.

Student Early Departures

There will be no student early pickups between 3pm and 3.30pm without an appointment card from a medical centre (Doctor, Dentist, Optometrist etc.). Special circumstances must be approved by the Principal in advance

Students must be collected from class after being signed out by their Parent/Guardian. We can not be making announcements during class time.

It is a legal requirement for all parents or guardians coming to pick up children from the Office to show photo ID, e.g. Drivers Licence, Passport or Proof of Age Card.

If you are not picking up your own children, we will need to call the child’s parents to confirm, unless we have been notified prior to the pickup, as well as see photo ID. Please take this into account if you are picking children up for an appointment.

Children & Pets in Cars

We would like to remind families that it is illegal and dangerous to leave children, or pets, in the car unattended at any time.

Working With Children Cards

All parent helpers attending school excursions will need to have provided a copy of their Working with Children card to the Office before they can attend an excursion.

Dismissal of Students

Continuing on from last year, all students will be dismissed through the external doors of their classrooms.

Parents are to wait at the outside doors and not the internal corridors. Both measures are to reduce the amount of traffic through the school building. Your assistance is appreciated.

Please organise a meeting place for your child/ren if they are in classrooms at opposite end of the school. It is not possible for the Office to do announcements for 700 families to help children find each other.

Any children directed to the Office if their parents are running late will be directed to wait outside the front Office doors. Staff are on duty until 3.45pm.
