Spanish Report

Post Spanish Day

Hola!

Once again, Lyndhurst enjoyed a spectacular Spanish Day last week. It was great to see so many students dressed in the colours of the flag of the Spanish speaking countries they were representing. As learners of Spanish, it is important for students to realise the language is spoke in over 21 countries, not just Spain, which makes it the second most spoken language in the world after Chinese.

It was also amazing to see so many families in attendance at the parade. Thank you to all those who came to support the language program and our fantastic junior school performances.

We were fortunate enough to be visited by our language officer from the Department of Education and Training, Wendy Slatter and the Spanish language teacher and students of Carrum Downs Secondary who ran a magic show workshop for our senior students. It has been a terrific opportunity to make connections with language learners in our community.

I would like to also mention a very big thank you to all the students in the Spanish Day Committee who worked hard to come up with classroom activities for each year level, decorations and the Spanish Day video, our Spanish captains, Mahasri and Jesselyn for their fantastic work hosting the parade and Charmie and Koru for their sideline commentary. It was great to see classrooms doing the activities the committee had organised.

Que pasen buenas vacaciones – Have a good holiday!
