Year 11 Presentation Balls

Friday 18  May and Saturday 19 May

The Centre Ivanhoe

Last Friday and Saturday,  a number of Year 11 students participated in the Presentation Balls at The Centre Ivanhoe.

A great deal of effort had gone into learning the dances and preparing for the big night. The students all looked stunning and their hard work paid off with perfectly choreographed dance moves.

Year 11 Leaders' Report

On Friday 18 and Saturday 19 May we finally got to have our Presentation Balls.  We had all been waiting for that day since Year 10, when we all started choosing our partners.  All the girls looked beautiful and the boys scrubbed up alright as well. The dances looked amazing!!

A very big thanks to Ms Devine for spending her time trying to teach a bunch of teenagers formal dancing. In the end, we got the steps down and it was a great night. I am sure we will hold these memories for years to come.

Earlier this term, the Year 11 and 12 students had past VCE students who scored highly on their ATAR, come in and talk to us about techniques and tips that we can implement into our studying to improve our knowledge recall. They also taught us ways to manage our time.  With exams quickly approaching, we can use all the help we can get.

GAT

The General Achievement Test (GAT) is approaching this term. This will take place on Wednesday 13 June.

The GAT is a test of general knowledge and skills in: Written Communication, Mathematics, Science and Technology, Humanities, The Arts and Social Sciences.

All students completing a Units 3&4 subject will need to complete the GAT even if they completed it in 2017.

On Wednesday 30 May, students will be attending GAT preparation sessions. The Year 12 students will attend a session during Periods 1 and 2 and the Year 11 session will occur during Period 3. In these sessions, students will learn key strategies and skills that they can apply when completing a range of tasks in the GAT.

Year 11 Exams

Year 11 Exams begin on Friday 8 June and run through to Friday 15 June.

An exam timetable has been released and is accessible to students on Compass, on the Year 11 Google Classroom and below:

If students sitting exams have more than one clash, they will need to reschedule one of their exams for IPT, during the exam week. Clash requests can be arranged in the VCE Office.

Students can also speak to any of the Senior School Coordinators if they have any concerns.

Mindful Morning - VCE Points!

Mindful mornings are still happening every morning at Steamworks from 8:20-8:30 am.  Come down to Steamworks and enjoy a relaxing start to your morning.

VCE students will receive one point for every session they attend; so make sure that you put your name down when you drop in.

Absences on COMPASS

It is now a critical time for all VCE students and it is important that students are in class during this time as many SACs are approaching as well as Year 11 Exams and the GAT.

Any absences from school must be parent/guardian approved.  You can do this through a signed note or you can approve your child’s absences via the Parent Approval Button on Compass.

You can also use Compass to view your student’s past absences.
