2017 Year 12 students
Study Retreat
Wednesday 1 to Friday 3 February
The VCE team is pleased to announce an exciting new initiative for the Year 12 class of 2017; a 'three-day study retreat' and university ‘taster’ at Deakin University in Burwood.
Students will fully experience campus life, attend lectures, staying in dormitory rooms/housing and use the university’s impressive facilities. Most importantly, the retreat will get the students off to a positive and productive start to their most important school year, providing them with an opportunity to set goals and develop essential study habits and revision skills.
The cost of the retreat is $300. We require $150 to secure a place for your son or daughter before Friday 11 November. The balance is due before Friday 9 December.
All students are expected to attend this valuable camp to give them the best opportunity for success in Year 12.
If you would like further information, please feel free to contact the VCE Coordinators.
VCAA Examination Timetable
All students completing a Unit 3 & 4 subject were given a copy of the VCAA examination navigator, which stipulates the timetable, rules and information about acceptable equipment.
Copies are also available online at;
http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/Pages/vce/exams/timetable.aspx
Study Planners
In the lead up to the busy examination period, VCE students should head to the Senior School Office to get a study planner.
They are incredibility useful for organising time and maximising study effectiveness, especially if you have many exams in a short period of time. Get planning!
VCE Unit 2 Exams
Monday 7 to Friday 11 November
The Unit 2 Examination timetable has been released to students in Year 11.
If students have a clash, where two of their subjects are at the same time, they need to visit the VCE Office and fill in a clash form, to schedule the completion of one exam on Thursday 10 November.
Completion of these examinations follow the same guidelines as those examinations at the end of Year 12.
Full uniform is required, as well as the presentation of school ID and clear water bottles only – no labels.
VCE SAC Redemption
Students will not be granted SAC redemption unless they have a medical certificate or it is a school-approved absence. If there are extenuating circumstances please let us know and we will make a decision based on the VCAA guidelines.
Year 11 Attendance
It is a requirement at Lilydale High School that students attend all timetabled classes so that teaching and learning opportunities can be maximised.
If students have reached their limit for absences from class (10 periods) there is an opportunity for this time to be redeemed.
Students can speak to their Year Level Coordinator to discuss making this time up at lunchtime, during afternoon study periods, or after school. Coming toward the end of year it is imperative that students make up classes they have missed.
Furthermore, it is a requirement that students attend Home Group, even if they have Study Periods, Periods 1 and 2.
Unapproved Absences
Any absences from school must be parent/guardian approved – you can do this through a signed note or you can approve your child’s absences on COMPASS.
Year 11 Captains
Over the past couple of weeks, VCE students have been finishing Units 1 and 2 and Units 3 and 4 content and began focusing on end of year exam preparation.
The Year 12's are embarking on their final exams and leaping into the next chapter of their lives, which is a daunting, yet an exciting concept. We wish them the best of luck and happiness for their future.
Year 11 students on the other hand, are experiencing the lead up to their first VCE end of year exams. Though these are stressful times for VCE students, we would like to commend everyone on their attitude towards the examinations and wish you all the best of luck!
Abbey McMahon and James Hourihan
