RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

Congratulations to all our students that received the Sacrament of Confirmation and Eucharist over the weekend and to those that will attend their Celebration Mass at 5:00pm today.

A special thank you to the Year 3 staff that prepared the students and to Fr Michael, Sacred Heart staff and families that supported the candidates by organising and attending the Mass services over a five week period.

Part of Fr Michael’s message to us was:

“You know our schools: Sacred Heart and St. Mary's  are the 'Jewels in the Crown'. More than any time in the history of the Parish are they essential to our basic Parish Mission. I thought this year's Group was superb!   Have a good week!”

Reflection from some of our children:

Bread Baking Day

On Thursday 1st September all the Year 3’s made bread to share and to celebrate with the kids that were making their sacrament of Eucharist and Confirmation.

At the start of the day we all gathered and said a prayer. After that we got into groups of 5-6 and then we started making bread!!

When the bread was cooked, we gathered in a circle and said a prayer. We broke the bread and shared it just like communion time during a Mass.

We all had an amazing time and everyone was respectful and kind to one another.

At the 11:00am Mass on Sunday I and some other kids from Sacred Heart and St Mary’s made our Confirmation and Eucharist (First Communion). During the Mass, our sponsors came to the front of the church and stood behind us.

When the music played, Fr Michael blessed us with oil and our sponsors replaced our red stole with our white stole. We went and sat down and Fr Michael lit the candle and then read from the Bible. We sang one last song called “I Light a Candle’. After that we were finished and we took a group photo and a photo with Fr Michael. Then we went home to celebrate.

On Sunday at the 9:00am Mass, me, three kids from Sacred Heart and one other kid from St Mary’s received our sacrament of Confirmation and Eucharist.

It was time! The song started and we walked down the aisle and stood around the altar at the front. We bowed and we went back to our family. Fr Michael read from the Bible. Our names were called out, Darcy, Ollie, Phoebe and Isaac. Fr Michael blessed us with oil on our forehead then we went back to our seats. Fr Michael then invited us back to receive the bread and it tasted like an ice-cream cone. We took some group photos before we left for home to celebrate.
