Book Week

Next time we'll wear costumes!

Book Week 2022

Last week we celebrated the Children’s Book Council of Australia’s Book Week 2022, and what a fantastic week!

On Monday, students dressed up as a character from a chosen book. It was beautiful to see so many original and creative costumes! Congratulations to our Junior school winner, Savio (Stickman) and our Senior school winner, Riley (Captain Underpants).

Please scroll through our photo display below of all the fantastic activities the children participated in during Book Week.

Thursday was a fun-filled day where students were in family groups and rotated around different classrooms to listen to some of the shortlisted books and participate in various activities from biscuit decorating to art and craft to writing their own stories.

I wonder what we will do in this group?
Concentrating on their craft
Getting ready to create
This was a yummyy book activity
Brothers creating together
Having fun during the book activities

This was followed by our annual Teachers vs. Students Spelling Bee. Our teachers took the title of Spelling Bee Champions this year! A special thank you to Goai, Jessica and Ishani, who made up the student team and to Ms Moran, Mrs Drury and Miss Newbound, who made up the teacher team.

It was neck to neck in Round 1 but the teachers won the trophy by the end of Round 3.

We finished the week on Friday with students reading to a buddy during lunch.

The older children read books in the junior school. Some students read a book to a small group.
Other children read a book to just one child.
Groups or 1:1 - it was so much fun.

Congratulations to our winners of the ‘Guess How Many Pages in the Book’ competition: Lania, who won a nominated picture storybook and Tishayini, who won a nominated book for younger readers.

Thanks to all parents for their support with costumes and for participating in our events throughout the week. A special thank you to all staff members for their support and planning of events, and of course, to our wonderful students for their enthusiasm which made 2022 Book Week such a special week.

We can’t wait for 2023 Book Week!
