BAW BAW SNOW TRIP

VCE OUTDOOR ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES

Our VCE Outdoor Environmental Studies trip to the snow was to gain practical experiences (experiential knowledge) and to see in person the areas we studied back at school. We gained an appreciation of why logging is being stopped right next door to the Alpine park, saw management strategies to preserve the environmental health of Mt Baw and got up close with critically endangered Dingos at the Environmental Centre.

Of course, a trip to the snow is not without challenges, actually getting the excursion going (Severe Weather warnings), obtaining all the necessary gear, getting out of bed early, getting to the snow, continually falling over but getting back up (great resilience team), a flat tyre on the bus on the way home but we did it, and all returned home safely!

Well done to everyone for not whingeing that it was cold, for embracing every moment we had on the mountain and bringing back great information for your SACS.

“It was comical and eventful but I guess that’s what the snow is. It is very spectacular, I think the colours on the snow gums was so pretty”
