R U OK Day?

This week we participated in R U Ok? Day to help raise awareness of mental health. Students were encouraged to wear a splash of yellow, and participated in a range of activities to learn more about how we can support each other and make a positive difference in our lives. We were also lucky to have our Hands on Learning team prepare a delicious BBQ for everyone to enjoy.

Remember, you don’t have to be an expert to keep the conversation going when someone says they’re not OK.

By knowing what to say you can help someone feel supported and access appropriate help long before they’re in crisis, which can make a really positive difference to their life.

You don't need to be an expert to reach out - just a good friend and a great listener.

Starting an R U OK? conversation? Use these four steps:

1. Ask R U OK?

2. Listen

3. Encourage action

4. Check in
