We are looking forward to welcoming our current Year 9-11 families to the Senior Years Course Information and Career Expo on 15th August. On this evening will be the opportunity to hear about the subject selection process, and information regarding SACE and VET Pathways Program. Alongside this evening we will be holding our annual Career Expo. This is the ‘one-stop-shop’ for families and students to find out information about specific university and vocational pathways as we welcome further education providers and potential employers on to our campus. The Career Expo will be set up in the Senior Years Centre, Plaza 1 from 5.30pm to 8.00pm and can share with you their courses and opportunities. They will have plenty of resources relevant to all year levels. Representatives from all SA Universities including Tabor, TAFE, Defence Force Recruitment along with training providers in Business and Hospitality, Psychology and Counselling, Community Services, Creative Industries and Trades are represented at this event.

Year 12 Transition Breakfast and SATAC applications

We kicked off our Year 12 Transition program last week with our Year 12 Transition Breakfast. Over a scrumptious breakfast, Old Scholars shared their stories of transitioning into work or University Studies. This inspired our current students to consider their next move in 2024. Past student, Sean Baker, shared his journey from school student to High Performance Fitness Coach and owner of PEAQ Training. He shared his involvement with many professional sporting organisations including the Adelaide Crows. Some key learnings Sean shared with students was regarding finding your passion, learning from failure and practicing gratitude through looking for the positives. We had a wide range of alumni in a wide variety of professions and fields of study that provided a great opportunity for the current Year 12s to ask questions and hear first-hand of the joys and challenges of life beyond Endeavour.

University staff also joined our breakfast and presented to our students regarding new course, entry requirements and pathways.

The 2024 SATAC Guide and other informative documents have arrived at the College and are available for student collection in Senior Year Plaza 1. Information regarding University and TAFE application process will be shared with students and families at the SATAC Information Session on Monday 7 August at 6pm in the upstairs middle year’s space. Applications for university courses open on Monday 7 and the early closing date is September 29. TAFE applications also open on August 7. Students considering applying for a competitive TAFE course should apply on this date as some courses use the application date as the entry

criteria. I encourage all Year 12s to take advantage of the opportunities offered at our 3 Universities to attend their Open Days next week to learn details about course content, pathways and Uni life!! I am always keen to meet with Year 12s and families who may require further support and information to make these choices. Endeavour Vocational Education Pathways Programs

Any Students wishing to undertake subsidised VET in 2024 will need to complete a VET Readiness Orientation Program known as VETRO. This process can take some time so students interested in VET as part of their Year 11 and 12 studies will need to make an appointment with the Pathways Leader as soon as possible to discuss their options further. Subsided training exists in areas such as trades, hair and beauty, social services and health, childcare and education, hospitality and catering, screen and media. VETRO is an upfront assessment, induction, and orientation to VET to ensure that students enroll in a course that is right for them and they will be successful in. A student applying for these courses is likely to continue their chosen vocational further through an apprenticeship or traineeship, paid work or further study at the end of Year 12. To be eligible for subsidised training, students must be:

  • Entering Year 11 (2024) and turning 16
  • Enrolled in SACE
  • Completing, or have completed, VET or work placement related to their career pathway.

Students with interests in Pathways Programs in other areas should also meet with the Pathways Leader to discuss potential VET in Schools opportunities.

To be considered as part of the Endeavour College VET Pathways Program students need to be able to demonstrate a serious interest in a specific career pathway.

All students interested in a VET in Schools course should indicate this on their Subject Selection Form. Please note that here may be additional cost to families as part of the enrolment process into these courses.

Year 10 Creating Careers and Workplace Learning

We were impressed with the engagement of our Year 10 students who recently participated in our very first Creating Careers Day aimed at providing opportunities to explore how life could look beyond Endeavour! Students were able to hear from our old scholars about their varied career journeys, engage with Uni and Vocational experts and learn more about pathways into many different industries.

Groups visited UniSA and participated in tours and engaged in activities with the Future Industries Institute and the Aviation Faculty.

Our Year 10s then completed a week of work experience placements across a wide range of venues and industries. Reports from workplace supervisors indicated that all our students performed exceptionally well. They were able to demonstrate employability skills and capabilities including teamwork, independence, organisation and a positive attitude. Care group teachers enjoyed the opportunity to visit their students and discuss their learning as they work toward achieving their learning and career goals.

Year 12 Learning Conversations and SATAC Information Session

Year 12 Academic reports have been uploaded to TASS Parent Lounge and Student Café this week. On Monday 7 August Year 12 Learning Conversations have been scheduled from 3.30pm-8.00pm. Parents are encouraged to make a booking to meet with Year 12 subject teachers as a way of supporting their child achieve their best as final assessment dates draw nearer. It is a good time to discuss with teachers more specific details about a student's level of application and achievement so far and for teachers to offer advice on ways to improve as we move into the last eight weeks of teaching. It is expected that Year 12 students will attend this evening with their parents/caregivers.

The Learning Conversations will take place spread throughout the Senior Years Centre.  Maps will be displayed at both entrances and throughout the centre. Should parents/caregivers and students be unable to attend on this night, they are encouraged to either email or call the subject teachers should they have any questions.

The connected event to this evening is the SATAC Information Session. This session will occur on site in the upstairs middle years' space and run from 6pm- 6.30pm.

All Year 12 families are encouraged to attend to hear about the application processes for TAFE and university courses for 2024.

We look forward to re-connecting with families on campus. Key senior staff will be available to answer any particular questions you may have.
