Around the College

Year 7 Liveability Exhibition

After a lot of work and preparation from the Year 7s, the day had finally come to present our Livability Exhibition to the College community on June 28, Term 2 Week 9.

The day ran smoothly with some parent visitors coming and going with questions and feedback. The exhibition took place in the Year 7 Space and the surrounding core classrooms. Everyone was involved in setting up and packing up. The teachers made it very easy for us to stay calm and helped us through the experience. The Year 7s were very creative on how they set up their table. The parents loved all the stalls and gave some great feedback. There were a lot of learning opportunities for us as students and our teams.

Our peers enjoyed all the hard work we had displayed on one table. Overall, the day went very well, we all enjoyed talking and teaching others about our suburb.

Super Blade STEM Windmill Challenge

Late last term, 8.4 Science completed the annual Super Blade STEM Windmill Challenge.

This task gets students to investigate the variable of blades upon the energy efficiency of a windmill. Students determine which aspect of the blade they wish to investigate based on their own group research. Students work within specific classroom designed testing parameters to discover which windmill blade design produces the greatest voltage output. This year a variety of very different blade designs were tested, including investigating mass and curvature of the blade.

The winning group for 2023 was Daanveer Randhawa, Frazer Case, Eddie Keast and Om Patel. Congratulations boys.

Connected Schools Treasure Hunt and Creative Workshops

More than one hundred and thirty Year 4 students from Good Shepherd, St Paul Lutheran and Golden Grove Lutheran Primary School took part in the Connected Schools Treasure Hunt and Creative Workshops here at Endeavour College late last term. Year 4 student visitors were tasked to find the hidden treasures of Endeavour, equipped with Year 9 Student Leaders, a map and various clues, before progressing onto afternoon activities within both the Design Technology and Visual Art faculties. The afternoon activities included learning all about the machinery and supporting software within the Technology Workshop, walking away with a key ring cross perfected using sandpaper and oils, as well as a stint in the Art Studios, making beehives with the aid of molds.

The art activity was based off the book Willbee the Bumblebee by Craig Smith, a story that promotes teamwork and collaboration, which will feed into the upcoming Connected Schools Worship this term in Week 6.

The Year 4s 'Beehived' themselves tremendously and had a fabulous first high school experience. We look forward to welcoming them back later this term for worship.
