Director of Students Report

Katee Mitchell

Everyone has quickly settled into Term 3, many students with new elective subjects and for our Year 12’s the last push before their final exams. There are lots of sporting opportunities and our students are wearing their team uniforms with pride, with some great photos of participation and success being posted on the college social posts. It is great to see our daily uniform presentation improving over the last 2 weeks and we encourage everyone to refer to the Student Planner for the correct items to be worn. School uniforms foster a sense of identity and unity amongst the group and promotes a sense of belonging while decreasing the stress and anxiety of what to wear.

While you are wearing your school uniform, even outside of the school day, you are representing Monivae in the community – it is expected that your behaviour is to be of the highest standard, just as it is while you are onsite.

With the recent poor weather, our ovals are out of bounds during lunch times – either the Stadiums or the Indoor Cricket Centre are available to use during this time to allow students the opportunity to take part in physical activities. Please watch out for emails from Mrs Mitchell or Mr Bailey letting you know when you can use the outdoor green spaces. The Courts will remain open unless it is raining.

Alongside our sporting opportunities, this Term will see House Chess and House Debating take place, and House Singing will form part of Mission Fair Day. Everyone is encouraged to join in any, or all of these activities to gain valuable House Points, with both participation and victory points on offer. Try something different, learn a new skill, have a go – or if this is not for you, go along and support the people who join up.

In conclusion, a reminder that Monday August 7 is Sheepvention and a pupil free day. Enjoy a long weekend with your family and friends and we will see you on Tuesday August 8.
