Book Week 2023

Read, Grow, Inspire

Once again, we will be celebrating Book Week in Term 3, Week 6, August 19-25. Book Week is an annual celebration of books for children and young adults. We celebrate a love of reading and all that books have to offer.

During our library lessons children have been completing a ‘Read, Grow, Inspire’ page for display in the library.  They have drawn pictures of favourite book covers, characters, or scenes from a book.  These will be on display in the library.

More celebrations will take place during Week 6 and Week 7.

Book Donating

Thank you to everyone who donated books to our library.  Once again it was amazing how many books were donated, and I thank our school community for your generosity.  Books will be loaned to the children who donated them in Week 5 and then will be available to all borrowers from Week 6.

There is still a large range of books for donating to the library and if you would like your child to donate, please complete the form below and return to school.

We have a large range of new books available for donating and books range in price from $5 to $25.

The child who donates the new book will be the first one to borrow that book and a special book plate (sticker) with the child’s name will be placed in the front of the book.  Over the years, many families have been very generous with donating, and this ensures our library is filled with beautiful books.

If you complete the form below and return it to school with your child/ren they will be invited to the library to select books that they will then be able to borrow first.  Thank you.

Book Character Parade – Monday, 21 August (Week 6)

Children are encouraged to come to school dressed as a book character where we will have a short parade beginning at 9.10am.

We ask that children dress up in a simple costume that reflects a favourite character or someone that has inspired them.  Costumes do not need to be elaborate, or store bought if it is possible to use items from home.  This is a fun day when children can enjoy ‘stepping into someone else’s shoes’.

Author Visit – Monday, 28 August (Week 7)

Our children will be treated to a great visit from author Matt Stanton who has written many fantastic children’s books.  More details to follow in Week 6 Newsletter.

Happy Reading
