Teaching and Learning

Thank you for joining us on Friday 28th July for our Student Led Conferences. Making time to celebrate the achievements of our students, acknowledge their challenges and reflect on how they continue to grow and learn is a highlight on our yearly calendar. Our teachers are so proud of each and every student and we hope that you too were impressed.

Our students love learning about new things that they can talk, read and write about. A sneak peak of Content Knowledge units for this term are …

Foundation

Our Foundation students will continue to explore the world of Fables, Fairy Tales and Rhymes. They will be immersed in the moral of the story and lessons that can be learnt from classic tales.

Junior School

The Junior School has stepped back in time to Ancient Greece, the birthplace of democracy. Students will learn the definition of a myth and will learn about the gods and goddesses of the ancient Greeks. Students have recently developed their persuasive skills, debating whether they would prefer to be an Athenian or Spartan. Which would you prefer?

Middle School

Middle School students are exploring the Middle Ages and later in the term will read excerpts from King Arthur and the Round Table. In a time of warfare, Kings and Queens and the powerful Church, students will demonstrate their understanding of this feudal society through creative writing.

Senior School

Our Senior students have commenced learning about World and Australian Deserts this week having completed a short and sharp study of the classic text Don Quixote. I eagerly await their published persuasive writing pieces arguing if Don Quixote's good intentions justify his actions. Following their current unit, senior students will finish the term engaging in The Enlightenment, The French Revolution and Romanticism.

Happy Reading!
